Landfall is a
charming traditional 'colonial' wooden villa, high on the fashionable west
coast of Barbados, with views of the Caribbean. It has a small
private pool and much more privacy than most chalet and apartment
vacation accommodation.
It has a
refreshing, Jacuzzi-equipped plunge pool that is completely
private. There are two bedrooms, each with ensuite bathroom and
shower. For entertaining, there's a kitchen, a comfortable drawing
room and a large veranda, with sitting and dining areas, all
protected by Demerara shutters.
Outside, there
is a carport and an outbuilding used by the maid and which houses a
large washing machine and a dryer.
There are
ceiling fans in all the living areas and, in the main double
bedroom, there is an air conditioner. However, since Landfall is
in an elevated position in a cool breeze, this is rarely needed.
The deck is inevitably the main living area, and this also has a
ceiling fan and a large and comfortable hammock.
The kitchen has
electric cooking, a substantial, American-style refrigerator and a
hatch to the veranda dining area. There is plenty of crockery,
cutlery and cooking equipment. There is also a barbecue outside.
The main bedroom
has an ensuite bathroom with shower and is light and airy. It has
a king-sized double bed and ample storage space. The second
bedroom also has an ensuite bathroom. It has twin beds and also
has lots of storage space.
The drawing room
has a large sofa and plenty of other seating but you will find
that you spend most of your time on the deck, particularly during
the warm, tropical evenings.
There is a
cordless telephone system that can be used for international calls
(at the renter's expense) and internet access can be arranged if
required. There is a computer system which plays DVDs and CDs.
Landfall can be
found high up on Crick Hill, in the area known as St. James, on
the west coast of Barbados overlooking the Eastern Caribbean. It's
a five-minute drive to the nearest stretch of gorgeous Barbados
beach and about seven minutes to the Holetown shops.
The rental price
includes a mid-week maid visit.
Landfall
is just yards from
TreeCot
and, although under separate
ownership, the two properties can be rented together if your party
is larger than Landfall's maximum of four.
